Swissmedic provides the HOMANT software for the electronic recording of single notifications (Art. 41 of the Complementary and Phytotherapeutic Products Ordinance (KPTPO), SR 812.212.24). HOMANT can be downloaded free of charge from the Swissmedic website using the link below.
The HOMANT software enables electronic data entry to facilitate the recording, transmission and assessment of the data required for authorisation of medicinal products by means of notification. The substance data from the HAS list (Annex 6 KPTPO), the SC list (Schüssler salts; Annex 7 KPTPO) and the Gemmotherapy list (Annex 8 KPTPO) that are integrated into HOMANT make it easier for the authorisation holder to select active substances permitted for the notification procedure when entering data.
System requirements and installation
PC with Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 7 or Windows 10 (including installation of .NET Framework).
The installation of .NET Framework and consequently the installation of HOMANT are not supported by the IOS (Apple) operating system.
Download the installer (the set-up program) HOMANT-x.x.x.exe from the Swissmedic website, then run the program locally on your computer and follow the instructions on the screen. Administrator rights are required for installation.
Further information about installation can be found in the user manual (available in German and French only):
Important:
Install HOMANT only once for each basic company dossier!
All single notifications assigned to a basic company dossier must be recorded in the same HOMANT database. In other words, it is not possible to record single notifications for the same basic company dossier in several HOMANT databases (e.g. at several workplaces) as this could otherwise result in conflicts in the notified data. It is possible, however, to record single notifications for several basic company dossiers in the same HOMANT database.
Data entry
The user manual (Handbuch HOMANT offline HMV4) contains information about the procedure and options for recording basic company and master dossiers and single and complex medicines.
General information about how the notification procedure works can be found in the Guidance document mentioned below.
Important:
Before you can start recording single notifications, a current, approved basic company dossier must be submitted to Swissmedic so that the access data for HOMANT can be provided.
Please check each time before you record a single notification that the current and approved basic company dossier and any master dossiers that may be required have been submitted to Swissmedic.
We also recommend that, before recording single notifications, you check whether updates are available and install them as necessary (see user manual Handbuch HOMANT Offline HMV4).
HOMANT software updates and substance master data updates
The HOMANT software is updated as needed; updates are made available by Swissmedic.
Updated substance master data for the HOMANT software is also made available for download following periodic revisions of the KPTPO Annexes (HAS list, SC list, Gemmotherapy list).
If you have already installed a version of HOMANT: When the HOMANT software is updated or new substance master data are imported, data relating to single notifications and master dossiers that are already in the system are preserved. We nonetheless recommend you to back up existing data before updating the software (see user manual Handbuch HOMANT Offline HMV4).
New functionalities of the current HOMANT version
HOMANT version 2.4.7 (since 1 July 2021) contains the following changes compared with the previous version:
- Manufacturing processes updated by addition of homeopathic manufacturing processes from the Ph. Eur.
- Gemmotherapy treatment: Restriction to the dosage forms permitted for the notification procedure: “drops / spray”.
- Schüssler therapy and gemmotherapy treatment: Restriction of selection to the potencies permitted for the notification procedure according to the SC list and the Gemmotherapy list.
- Formal correction of individual terms.
The new functions are described in detail in the user manual (Handbuch HOMANT Offline HMV4).
Updated version of substance master data
The updated version of the substance master data contains the data of the updated list HAS (Annex 6 KPAV, status 01.07.2023).
With the current version HOMANT 2.4.7, an update of the substance master data must be carried out before new individual notifications are recorded. The update is described in the HOMANT Offline HMV4 manual (chapter 2.3). The xml file required for this and the manual can be downloaded in the Download section.
